David's Tabernacle

When David first attempted to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, things went terribly wrong (2 Samuel 6:6–7). Uzzah reached out to steady the ark when the oxen stumbled, and he died instantly. Why? Because God had given clear instructions about how His presence was to be carried (Numbers 4:15; Deuteronomy 10:8). The ark was never meant to be transported on a cart—it was to be carried by the Levites on poles. David's first attempt failed because it was done on human terms, not God's. But when David tried again, he chose obedience. The ark was carried the right way, and God's presence entered Jerusalem with blessing, not judgment. Here's the takeaway: obedience is always the first step to welcoming God's presence. We can't manufacture His presence or carry Him our way. We align with His Word, and then His nearness becomes life-giving instead of heavy. Maybe there's an area of your life where you've been trying to do things your way, hoping God will bless it. Today is the day to stop and ask: Am I carrying God's presence the way He says—or the way I prefer? Obedience may feel costly, but it always opens the door for His presence to come in power.
